A BROKEN LANDROVER

On one of our recent jobs in 2025 we attended this Land rover velar for the all very common DCDC converter failure. After running a health scan we confirmed that the DCDC converter had a internal fault and was not charging the 12v battery. This vehicle being a mild hybrid (48v) system the DCDC converter essentially is in charge of keeping the 12v system maintained to a certain level of charge.

Unfortunately there has been a massive amount of alternators replaced due to people not understanding how the system works, This is not a cheap route to go down throwing the parts cannon with the price of a 48v generator costing in excess of £1000.

After fitting the new DCDC converter and having it programmed in to the vehicle the charging system returned to normal.
